New ERC call to aid blue sky body NCPs

Details have been released for a new call for proposals from the European Research Council focusing on National Contact Points (NCP).

Beginning on 6 October 2015, researchers will be able submit applications to the €850,000 ‘NCP project on strengthening competitiveness in ERC calls’. According to the European Commission, the blue sky research funding body aims bolster support in EU member states for possible ERC applicants, with action being specifically targeted towards those countries where involvement in this research programme is low.

The Commission says: ‘support will be given to a consortium of formally nominated ERC NCPs’, adding that action will be taken to amplify the standard of support for ERC applicants and share positive practices between different NCPs.

‘The activities will be tailored to harmonise the quality of the services provided between the more and less experienced NCPs, and level the quality of support provided to ERC applicants between more and less competitive countries in the ERC’s calls.’

The call sits under the Excellent Science pillar and submissions can be sent until 7 January 2016. Funded projectS can run for up to three years.
