FET Open and Proactive holding call info day

The Research Executive Agency (REA) is to hold an information day on the calls for proposals to be launched this year by FET Open and the ‘Emerging themes and communities’ topic under FET Proactive.

The event is being organised in co-operation with DG Connect and will take place in Brussels, Belgium, on Monday 25 January.

The information day will include a presentation of the Horizon 2020 FET Open and FET Proactive schemes; information on how to prepare and submit a proposal, on the evaluation process and on relevant evaluation criteria; experience sharing by a co-ordinator of a successful proposal; and opportunity for a very short presentation by potential applicants on a novel idea for a proposal with the aim of identifying potential partners.

It is targeted at potential applicants for the call for Research and Innovation Actions (RIA) and for Coordination and Support Actions (CSA) under FET Open and FET Proactive.

FET Open is designed to support early-stage collaborative scientific research aimed at radically new future technologies. Projects can involve a wide range of new technological possibilities inspired by cutting-edge science, unconventional collaborations or new research and innovation practices.

FET Proactive looks to nurture emerging themes, seeking to establish a critical mass of European researchers in a number of promising exploratory research topics. This activity supports areas that are not yet ready for inclusion in industry research roadmaps, with the aim of building up and structuring new interdisciplinary research communities.

The FET Proactive call in ‘emerging themes and communities’ includes four areas: future technologies for societal change, biotech for better life, disruptive information technologies, and new technologies for energy and functional materials.

Registration for the information day is free, and all sessions will be streamed online and recorded, with presentations published after the event.
