H2020 supports Nottingham University’s C2C project

The European Commission has awarded funding from its Future and Emerging Technologies scheme to an electromagnetic chip-to-chip (C2C) communication project.

The funding from Horizon 2020 is been granted to multiple researchers at the UK’s University of Nottingham to enable them to carry out a three-year project focusing on “designing tools for wireless C2C communication”.

The project, entitled ‘Noisy Electromagnetic Fields – A Technological Platform for Chip-to-Chip Communication in the 21st Century – NEMF21’, is being undertaken by Dr Gregor Tanner, Dr Stephen Creagh, Dr Gabriele Gradoni and Professor Dave Thomas primarily in the field of mathematics.

According to the university, the interdisciplinary team will “tackle the scientific challenges to open new pathways for chip design”. It is hoped the research will encourage a move to a “new era of chip architectures” as well as help overcome current problems in wired communications.
