Company gains grant to enrich video apps

Based in Dublin, Ireland, technology firm Axonista has been selected for a €1.7m grant under the Horizon 2020 programme, to deliver a new level of engagement via video commerce.

The funding for this project will facilitate further development of Axonista’s Ediflo interactive video technology product to enable customers to bring rich interactive video apps to market much more rapidly than previously possible.

The company plans to create 15 new jobs in engineering, marketing and business development in Ireland and the US over the next 12 months.

Axonista is building technologies that enable broadcasters to flourish in the evolving video landscape.

Ediflo is the first platform of its kind to be engineered from the ground up for object-based broadcasting workflows.

Its application programming interface (API)-based delivery model enhances rather than replaces investment in linear broadcast technology, enabling broadcasters to push rich content to devices, from smartphones to tablets and smart TVs.

Axonista previously raised a seed round of €400,000 in 2014 from private investors and Enterprise Ireland.

Axonista CEO Claire McHugh, said: “We’re really excited to take our business to the next level.

“This funding gives us the support we need to accelerate our product roadmap and to grow our team so that we can fully capitalise on the huge global market opportunity in the evolving TV and video landscape.”
