EIT Digital announces Idea Challenge winners

EIT Digital has announced the winners of its 2015 Idea Challenge – a competition to find the most innovative digital start-ups from across Europe.

The winning products include a medical device which enables skin diagnostics without invasive tissue samples (DAMAE Medical, France), a management and billing platform to easily operate a charging infrastructure for electric vehicles (has.to.be, Austria), and a mobile security device helping internet users to protect their online data (Digiflak OU, Estonia).

They will receive a cash prize of up to €40,000, mentoring support, workspace, and access to buyer networks across the EU and beyond. Winners will also become part of EIT Digital’s unique ecosystem, an international innovation network including global companies, world-leading universities, research institutes, and cutting-edge innovators.

“This year’s competition has identified some of Europe’s most innovative and high potential digital start-ups. We’re now looking forward to welcoming the winners and runners up into the EIT Digital ecosystem, helping them to bring their disruptive technologies to world markets and supporting their scale-up,” said Willem Jonker, CEO of EIT Digital.

The winners were selected in eight categories after pitching to expert judges at final events held in cities across Europe. Over 460 applications from 26 EU countries were received.
