H2020 to assist in social media verification

A Berlin-based smart media solutions company has won funding from the EU research and innovation framework programme.

Condat, along with eight partners in Europe, will develop technology to locate, check and integrate user-generated video taken from social media for use in the media and TV programmes. Such services are required for major emergencies or disasters, when pictures and videos are increasingly appearing first on social media before professional pictures and film can be made available. Social media outlets set to be analysed include YouTube, Twitter or Instagram.

Last month, it was announced that Australian-based information technology and digital solutions group Invigor would acquire Condat. The company currently provides key media solutions to public broadcasters in Germany and will use the outcomes of the Horizon 2020 venture to further advance its media solutions.
