Horizon 2020 Pillars
Johann Bernoulli Institute for Mathematics and Computer Science
The mission of the Johann Bernoulli Institute for Mathematics and Computer Science (JBI) is the cross-fertilisation by modelling and computational methods of the disciplines mathematics and computer science both with other sciences and with the outside world.
More specifically, the JBI aims to:
- Conduct research which addresses fundamental questions both within the disciplines and directed towards applications, aiming at a fertile transfer of knowledge between mathematics, computer science, and other fields;
- To carry out cross-disciplinary research with a focus on Earth and life sciences, in particular including climate modelling, healthy ageing, and energy; and
- To educate a new generation of researchers in a multidisciplinary approach, in order to prepare the graduates for the diversity and quality of skills needed in society.
