The European Commission has announced funding for ICT focusing on ageing, health and wellbeing.

The calls, which fall under ‘Health, demographic change and wellbeing’ Societal Challenge, are open for funding applications until 21 April 2015 and focus on improving ICT in the detection and early intervention of illnesses relating to active and healthy ageing; integrated care; and improving patient empowerment.

Other subjects being covered by Horizon 2020 are ‘Public procurement of innovative eHealth services’; using health data to improve diagnosis and treatment; and developing predictive computer modelling to assist in self-management of health problems and diseases.

The Commission has announced that there will be a total of three health calls under Horizon 2020 during the 2015 work programmes, with total funding worth €573m.
