MEP welcomes Randox investment

An Irish MEP has welcomed fresh R&D investment by healthcare firm Randox Teo at its laboratory in Donegal.

Pat the Cope Gallagher said he was pleased that the multinational would be investing €500,000 at the site at Meenmore, Dungloe in the north of Ireland. The financial investment is expected to lead to the creation of 88 new jobs by the end of 2015.

Speaking to the Donegal Democrat newspaper, the MEP for the North-West Ireland said: “The decision by Randox to further invest in the Dungloe plant represents a massive vote of confidence in the workforce and general area. This investment highlights the total commitment of Randox to the Dungloe plant which plays a central role in world class diagnostic research carried out by Randox.”

According to the newspaper, Pat the Cope Gallagher has been working closely with Randox since he was a health minister in the Irish government and has also assisted in organising key talks between European politicians and the healthcare company regarding Horizon 2020.

The MEP described Randox as being “highly respected within European institutions”, adding the managing director of Randox Laboratories had recently met with key MEPs.
