Cyprus secures €2.2m ERC funding
A professor at the University of Cyprus has secured a major funding boost from the European Research Council.
Professor Christophoros Pissarides secured the money to investigate the labour market and job creation in Europe, particularly in new member states. The European Union Studies academic, will also examine unemployment during the recent financial crisis. The funding, worth an estimated €2.2m, will take the form of an Advanced Grant from the EU funding body.
The project will begin in July and run for five years. Ten new research job opportunities will be created as a result of the funding.
