Further H2020 funding for TU Delft
It has been announced that TU Delft has won further funding from Horizon 2020.
The Dutch University has secured funds for research concerning computational science and engineering as part of the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions. The numerical analysis team, led by Professor Kees Vuik, will receive €250,000 over four years for the ‘Multi-Scale Fluid Flow in DYNamically FRACtured Porous Reservoir’ (MSFF-DYN-FRAC-PR) project.
In comments carried in the magazine Delta, Vuik said: “I believe that modelling is the way forward in resource extraction. I don’t think that our research will be the only method developed, but it will certainly contribute to the future of resource extraction.”
PhD candidates expected to benefit from the funding will focus on developing mathematical models related to fracking. The research is being conducted with one of the world’s largest oilfield services companies, Schlumberger.
The research is expected to begin in January 2015.
