MSCA award winners revealed
The winners of the 2015 COFUND awards have been publicised.
Announced earlier this month in Luxembourg City, the winners were all funded by the specialist scheme, part of the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions.
Honoured for their research was Dr Julien Meyer, who undertook research into interpreting whistled languages through cognitive science; Dr Aiden Doherty, who analysed Big Data for health purposes; and Dr David Hoey, who developed innovative treatments for osteoporosis.
The ceremony took place in the presence of Luxembourg Secretary of State for Higher Education and Research, Marc Hansen, at a gathering of experts and stakeholders in the field of research. A monetary prize of €1,000 complements each award.
The prizes were jointly remitted by astronaut and former French Minister for Research and for European Affairs, Claudie Haigneré; director general of DG Education and Culture of the European Commission, Martine Reicherts; and secretary general of the Luxembourg National Research Fund, Marc Schiltz.
The MSCA 2015 COFUND conference is co-financed by the EU. The MSCA is a programme promoting the mobility and career development of researchers.
