Angolan minister cities Horizon 2020 power to unite scientists
The Angolan Minister for Science and Technology, Maria Cândida Teixeira, has cited the importance of Horizon 2020 in bringing together researchers in tackling societal problems and helping to remove the barriers researchers face across the globe in regards to innovation.
Speaking at the Workshop of Co-operation on Scientific Research and Innovation in Angola, Teixeira said that she was also excited by the framework programme’s international co-operation attributes and that the country was looking to apply for funding and take part in EU projects.
Citing the bilateral agreements between Angola and the EU, the minister commented: “I would like to highlight the several models of international co-operation adopted with the EU, whether bilateral or multilateral, promoting the participation of Angola in EU funding programmes for scientific research and innovation.”
The workshop, which took place in the capital Luanda, focused on strengthening the co-operation between Angola and the EU and presented different initiatives available and how researchers may take part. Teixeira also cited Horizon 2020’s ability to encourage and unite industrial leadership.
