Greece-Israel launches R&D project call
The joint call for R&D projects has been launched by Greece and Israel. The call aims to promote Greek and Israeli business relations while developing innovative products, services and applications in any technological area.
The call is within the framework of the ‘Agreement on Bilateral Co-operation in Private Sector, Industrial Research and Development’ signed between the two countries in 2006. It’s hoped that the R&D projects will help to promote economic growth and the creation of jobs.
Greece has allocated €5m for the call, which could potentially be increased to €10m; total public funding for Greek companies cannot exceed €400,000 per project. Israel has also agreed to earmark a budget of €5m and has said this budget could be increased if deemed necessary.
As an EU member state, Greece will automatically benefit from the Horizon 2020 yet negotiations on whether Israel will be able to participate are continuing after Brussels published new guidelines in the summer governing the way EU funds are distributed in the country.
The deadline for proposals in 7 November 2013.
