Ukrainian MPs ratify H2020 deal
The parliament in Kiev has voted in favour of an agreement that allows the country to participate in Horizon 2020.
On Wednesday, MPs in the Verkhovna Rada ratified the deal that sees Ukrainian institutions access the EU research and innovation framework programme on a par with other EU member states.
In March, the Ukrainian Government and the European Commission signed the association agreement to allow participation, but the deal also had to be approved by MPs. According to Brussels, Ukraine’s association to Horizon 2020 highlights that both the EU and the eastern European country consider research and innovation crucial for economic growth and the creation of jobs. The association agreement runs until the end of 2020.
