KETs workshop to discuss synergies between H2020 and ESIF
A workshop on key enabling technologies (KET) is to take place tomorrow (6 May) in Brussels.
The workshop, entitled ‘Key Enabling Technologies for Regional Growth: synergies between Horizon 2020 and ESIF’, aims to encourage active dialogue and the exchange of ideas between the KETs Horizon 2020 stakeholders and the national and regional authorities that apply for structural funds.
It is also intended to raise awareness on KETs (advanced materials, nanotechnology, micro and nanoelectronics, industrial biotechnology, photonics, and advanced manufacturing systems) as drivers for industrial competitiveness in regions.
Participants will discuss stimulating interaction to enhance synergies and will see examples of regions that have identified KETs as priorities and promote interregional co-operation.
They will explore how the new instruments help deal with current problems and limitations as well as identify the main barriers for addressing synergies.
Keynote speeches will be delivered by Clara de la Torre, Director of the European Commission’s DG Research and Innovation, Charlina Vitcheva, Director of DG Regional Policy and Yoomi Renström, chair of the Committee of the Regions’ Commission for Social Policy, Education, Employment, Research and Culture.
