Commission seeks new smart city partners
The European Commission has announced it is looking for new partners from cities and industry in the European Innovation Partnership on Smart Cities and Communities (EIP-SCC). The ‘Invitation for Commitments’, open until June 2014, will then see the Commission analyse the data and plan how to promote the best proposals.
The call will enable participants to actively engage in the EIP-SCC, allowing for the possibility to learn and network with other communities and stakeholders in Europe. At the same time, the call will provide the Commission with a better understanding of ambitions, barriers and the needs of those cities aiming to become smarter.
The EIP-SCC sees cities, industry and citizens collaborate to improve urban life through more sustainable, integrated solutions at the interface of energy, transport and ICT technologies and infrastructures.
