Eindhoven centre to expand activities of EIT ICT Labs
EIT ICT Labs has announced it will open a new office in Eindhoven at the High Tech Campus on 11 December. The opening is being seen as an important step in the goal of driving ICT innovation in the Netherlands.
The new Co-location Centre is established by the partners of the Eindhoven Node, which includes Philips, Thales, TNO, iMinds, TU Delft and Utrecht University. The office is the result of the scale-up of various EIT ICT Labs activities, such as the Business Development Accelerator, the High Impact Initiatives and the entrepreneurial education activities. The new premises will be the home of project activities in health and wellbeing, coached start-ups, PhD researchers, master school students, professional learning workshops, and partner meet-ups. Special space is also planned for the EIT ICT Labs High Impact Initiative ‘Fit to Perform’ that will push the roll-out of smart proactive wellbeing and safety solutions for risk-prone professional workers and individuals based on cardio-respiratory and motion sensing.
The inauguration day will see EIT ICT Labs and its partners showcase their results and their ways of working from the twofold strategy of the Knowledge and Innovation Community: speeding up the go-to-market ICT innovations, and developing a new generation of entrepreneurial ICT professionals. The theme of the day is described as ‘ICT is the core of new business’, which reflects the irreversible impact of ICT on the future of companies and society.
