Headline results for 2015 ICT call announced
The European Commission has announced that 1,301 proposals were submitted to the 2015 ICT call under Horizon 2020.
The most applications were received for the ‘Collective Awareness Platforms for Sustainability and Social Innovation’ and ‘Robotics’ topics, which both had 193 applications. This was followed by ‘Technologies for better human learning and teaching’, which obtained 174 proposals, and ‘Technologies for creative industries, social media and convergence’, which collected 144 tenders.
The call, which has a budget of €561m and sits under the Industrial Leadership pillar, opened on 15 October 2014 and closed earlier this week on 14 April 2015. The winning proposals will be announced by the Commission shortly.
The EU institution has also announced the initial details for the ‘Materials for clean air’ Horizon Prize call, which “offers a cash reward to whoever can most effectively meet a defined challenge”. Five prizes have been announced by the Commission, and €3m of funding is available for this particular challenge; the call also sits under the Industrial Leadership pillar.
The goal of the clean air Horizon Prize is to “develop an innovative and well-designed material solution that will reduce the concentration of particulate matter in the air”. Applications can be submitted from 26 January 2017 through to 23 January 2018; more details on the call can be found here.
