Horizon 2020 funds African e-waste project
The European Commission has awarded €1.6m to the EWIT project, which will develop an implementation toolkit to support the recycling and recovery of e-waste in African metropolitan areas.
According to the EU research and innovation information portal CORDIS: “The project will develop a comprehensive mapping of the baseline data of African metropolitan areas related to e-waste management, analysing the most relevant experiences, processes and legal tools available.
“It will then deliver a dynamic and easy-to-use information and service portal to offer guidance and practical support for the design and development of e-waste collection and recycling systems.”
EWIT is a Horizon 2020 Coordination and Support Action funded under topic ‘Waste-4b-2014 – Global waste dimension’ and will run until February 2017.
