Bert De Colvenaer named new ECSEL JU head
Bert De Colvenaer has succeeded Dr Andreas Wild as executive director of the Electronic Components and Systems for European Leadership Joint Undertaking (ECSEL JU).
De Colvenaer has a strong industrial background, particularly in the automotive sector, having previously served as the executive director of the Fuel Cells and Hydrogen Joint Undertaking. He will bring to the role the necessary experience to ensure continuity of the JU’s operations while adding new perspectives and a fresh view towards its future evolution, ECSEL has said.
For De Colvenaer, the diversity of the participants in ECSEL and its extensive range of applications across many supply chains are both a challenge and a great opportunity: “In the widest sense, I want to create ‘More Europe for a smarter Europe’,” he says, “and I believe that the ECSEL JU is – and will be even more in the future – both instrumental and catalytic to achieving this. In this respect, the most important word in the name of ECSEL JU is ‘Joint’.”
Wild entered into retirement at the end of 2015.
Interviews with De Colvenaer have been featured in issue 12 of Pan European Networks: Government, as well as issue 3 of Horizon 2020 Projects: Portal.
