EuroNanoForum 2013 opens in Dublin
Delegates have gathered in Dublin for the start of EuroNanoForum 2013. The sixth biannual conference, attended by Pan European Networks, brings together the field’s top scientists, leading international companies and high-level decision makers in order to advance the beneficial use of nanotechnology.
EuroNanoForum 2013 is the largest nanotechnology conference in Europe and focuses on the impact of nanotechnology in improving people’s lives, especially in the key societal sectors such as health, energy and environment. Nanotechnology has been cited as creating new ways of producing energy, better medical diagnostics and treatments to handle diseases like cancer or to manufacture smaller and more powerful electronic devices, which can recharge your mobile phone within seconds.
Commenting at the conference, Herbert von Bose, director of Industrial Technologies at the European Commission, said: “Nanotechnology plays an important role in the overall European policy context, and demonstrate why it is vital for Europe to seize the leadership in nanotechnologies as in other Key Enabling Technologies, as a springboard to economic prosperity and to sustainable solutions to the biggest challenges facing our society.”
The event highlights the need for the right financing instruments and international collaboration as well as addressing challenges of the nanotechnology development from across the world, especially in the key societal sectors such as health, energy and environment.
An estimated 1,500 delegates are attending the two-day event. Pan European Networks is an official conference media partner.
