Final checks for ESA Galileo launch
The European Space Agency is making final preparations as it readies for the launch of its latest Galileo satellites.
The -9 and -10 Galileo satellites arrived at their launch pad on Wednesday, taking their position atop the vertical Soyuz launcher.
The launch is set to take place at 02:08 GMT on 11 September from Europe’s Spaceport in French Guiana.
Two further satellites are scheduled for launch by the end of this year. Meanwhile, the first satellite of the next Galileo consignment, Galileo-13, is currently undergoing its thermal-vacuum test at ESA’s ESTEC technical centre in Noordwijk in the Netherlands, whilst Galileo-14 arrived at the test centre on Monday.
