The European Commission has announced the indicative results of its ‘Applications in Satellite Navigation – Galileo’ 2014-2015 call, which focuses on the European Global Navigation Satellite System (EGNSS).
The call ran from 11 December 2013 until 3 April 2014 and included three research topics, namely ‘EGNSS applications’, ‘SME based EGNSS applications’, ‘Releasing the potential of EGNSS applications through international co-operation’ and ‘EGNSS awareness raising, capacity building and/or promotion activities, inside or outside of the EU’.
Across the four topics, the call received a total of 109 project proposals, of which four were considered inadmissible or ineligible. After initial evaluation, 64 applications for funding were considered to be above the applicable threshold in terms of evaluation score. Collectively, the proposals now being considered for funding represent total investment worth over €110m, though only €38m of funding is available.
The call is managed by the European GNSS Agency (GSA) and according to the Commission, applicants have been informed of the evaluation results. The number of proposals that can formally receive funding varies on the available budget and the formal approval of grant agreements by the GSA.
