Plastics industry to get higher H2020 funding
Horizon 2020 will guarantee significant new research funding into plastics, polymers and nanotechnology after FP7, despite an overall reduction in the research framework programme’s expected budget.
The sector, which will sit under the Industrial Leadership pillar, will receive a share of the estimated €13bn budget allocated to Key Enabling Technologies.
The budget for Horizon 2020, which is part of the wider Europe 2020 strategy, is still yet to be finally agreed. Last month, MEPs urged further negotiations with the European Council over the EU’s long-term financial plan.
