189 Austrian applications receive Horizon 2020 funding
Austria has received funding for 189 research projects during the year from Horizon 2020, according to the Austrian Press Agency. This results in nearly €228m of funding heading to the country from the EU’s research and innovation framework programme.
According to Reinhold Mitterlehner, Austrian Federal Minister of Science, Research and Economy, the country secured a success rate of 15.4%, above the EU average of 14.6%. The country made 1,226 Horizon 2020 applications to the European Commission.
A significant amount of Horizon 2020 money has been awarded to SMEs. According to statistics, 24.9% of Austria’s funding has been directed towards SMEs, compared to an EU average of 20%.
