Brussels to open €200m H2020 security calls

The European Commission will support Europe’s fight against terrorism with financial support for research projects under Horizon 2020. The EU R&I framework programme will also support the Union’s adaptation to climate change and increasing digital security.

The topics are part of four upcoming ‘Secure Societies’ calls that are due to open as part of Horizon 2020. Welcoming applications from 25 March is the €76.7m ‘Disaster-resilience: safeguarding and securing society, including adapting to climate change’ call; a €50.2m ‘Digital security: cybersecurity, privacy and trust’ call; and a €42.1m ‘Border security and external security’ call. Also opening for research project proposals is the ‘Fight against crime and terrorism’ call, which has a budget of €42.1m.

Collectively the calls are worth €211.2m and Horizon2020projects.com will post more details on the topics covered by the calls when they open next month. An information day on the new calls will be run by the European Commission’s Research Executive Agency and held in Brussels on 26 March; more details can be found here.
