Denmark highlights H2020 success
A new report has revealed the achievements of Danish researchers in receiving grants from Horizon 2020.
The EU member state has secured €300m of funding since the start of the EU research and innovation framework programme, placing the country second to the Netherlands when considering the amount of funding awarded per capita.
The Danish minister for education and research, Esben Lunde Larsen, said he was pleased was the result, though called for more firms to seek Horizon 2020 funding. The government in Copenhagen has created a specialist research network focusing on the EU R&I scheme in order to up awareness of the EU financing available as well as to help share experiences in gaining funds.
In comments carried in Denmark’s Online Post, Larsen commented: “It’s a very good result for Danish researchers and companies. Now what is needed is to keep the high level and ensure that more companies across the country are aware of the possibilities for obtaining EU funds.”
He added that the EU funds helped to create jobs and business growth.
The European Commission recently announced the 2016-2017 work programmes for Horizon 2020.
