EU publishes co-operation and development results
The EU has published the first report based on the new ‘EU International Co-operation and Development Results Framework’, providing results from 100 partner countries.
The European Commission today publishes its first comprehensive report on its Results Framework, representing a new, more aggregated and transparent method of reporting the results of EU-funded development projects and programmes such as Horizon 2020 and European Research Council Starter Grants/
Co-operation and development commissioner Neven Mimica said: “I am proud to present this report, which showcases the outstanding results that were achieved in our partner countries through projects and programmes financed by the European Union. Demonstrating the actual results of our work is crucial to maintain strong support from all of our partners, and in particular from EU citizens. I am strongly committed to an approach that is better focused on results – we need to show that every euro we spend on development is helping to make a difference.”
The report presents the results of the most strategic EU-funded projects and programmes completed between mid-2013 and mid-2014. It shows that, through EU contribution, more than 4.5 million women of reproductive age and children under five benefitted from nutrition-related programmes; more than 1.1 million births were attended by skilled health personnel, helping to reduce maternal mortality; and more than 29 million children were enrolled at school, with over 19 million in primary education and 9.5 million in secondary education, according to commission press release.
The report draws on the results of projects and programmes ending between 1 July 2013 and 30 June 2014, representing approximately 90% of the value of all EU-funded projects and programmes ending in that period.
