2016 KIC key assumptions revealed
The European Institute of Innovation and Technology has published the main details of its next two Knowledge and Innovation Communities, due to be launched in 2016.
Revealing the key assumptions, the first KIC to be launched will be under the theme of ‘Food4future: sustainable supply chain from resources to consumers’ and will be entitled ‘EIT Food’. This will be accompanied by a KIC under the theme of ‘Added-value manufacturing’, named ‘EIT Manufacturing’. The key assumptions include ‘simplification’, ‘alignment with Horizon 2020’ and an emphasis on ‘excellence’.
According to the EIT, selection criteria of the new KICs will be published between October and December this year, followed by their designation in the final three months of next year. The EIT says that the criteria will be ‘aligned with the EIT’s mission’ and ‘ensure that the designated KICs have all the elements needed for a KIC to be a KIC’.
