Complex Disease Detector wins innovation prize
MSc ENTECH student Allen Ali Mohammadi, of Uppsala University, and Max Mohammadhassan Mohammadi, of Kungliga Tekniska Högskolan, have been awarded the biggest innovation prize of the year, the SKAPA award in memory of Swedish innovator Alfred Nobel.
It was presented at Tessinska Palace, Stockholm, on 13 October together with a diploma in memory of Nobel for their invention, the Complex Disease (CAD) Detector.
The CAD Detector is a decision support tool. It helps screen and diagnose complex diseases such as cancer and heart diseases at a significantly earlier stage by using artificial intelligence together with visualising the clinically relevant data.
It is expected that the tool will have a great impact on global health whilst generating massive values in terms of increasing quality of life and saving time and cost.
“The specialisation in innovation and entrepreneurship at ENTECH has played an important role in different stages of this project,” said Mohammadi. “I’m definitely going to continue working on this. In fact, I have already registered a limited company in Sweden recently in order to take our innovation to the market.”
Mohammadi was previously awarded the Best Inventor 2014 award in eHealth at the World’s Digital Health Forum for the CAD Detector.
