Greece sets out plans for 2014 WIRE conference
The Greek National Documentation Centre (EKT) and the European Commission, in collaboration with the Greek General Secretariat for Research & Technology, have announced details of the ‘Week of Innovative Regions in Europe 2014’ (WIRE 2014) conference.
The event will take place as part of the Greek Presidency of the Council of the European Union between 12-13 June in the capital Athens. The WIRE conference provides a forum for policy dialogue on regional strategies and innovation and economic growth. Organised since 2010, it has become an established place for debate, helping develop new proposals for improving the effectiveness of regional, national and European governance and measuring the impact and supporting regional development.
Presentations will include ‘Regional Innovation & European Growth: Challenges in 2014-2020’ and ‘Rebooting Regional Policy: how to implement the Smart Specialisation Strategies’. Máire Geoghegan-Quinn, European Commissioner for Research, Innovation and Science, will attend the event.
