Paris students win enterprise competition
A group of French students have won a prestigious enterprise award from the European Institute of Innovation and Technology’s (EIT) ICT Labs Knowledge and Innovation Community.
The students from Paris won the €5,000 award after beating off competition from twenty other junior enterprises from 14 different countries in the ‘Junior Achievement Young Enterprise Challenge’. The students, who are part of the EIT ICT Labs Master School at Université Paris-Sud, won with their Jukeboss idea, a smart phone application.
Jukeboss allows users at events to choose their favourite songs from a list of available music tracks. This information is then relayed to the disc-jockey who will be able to identify and play the most popular tunes amongst the audience in the hope of a more successful event or party. Jukeboss can also be used for radios and it’s hoped the app will become automated in its future development.
The French students beat off competition from the regional challenge of the local PEEPS (‘Student Entrepreneurship Cluster Paris-Saclay’), part of the Innovation and Entrepreneurship programme. The team was then selected as a junior enterprise to present their idea amongst 17 other French projects during a national competition in May 2013.
