Showcase offers window into the future
A two-day exhibition offering a technological insight into the future lives of citizens has opened in Dublin, Ireland.
The ‘Your Future City’ showcase will offer the public a ‘window on the future’, demonstrating how technological innovation will affect every aspect of the lives of European citizens. Over 20 groundbreaking new technological advances and developments will be on display and allow attendees to interact with new technologies and to see how these will have a positive impact on life in Dublin city.
Commenting on the display, Naoise Ó Muirí, the Lord Mayor of Dublin, said: “Technology is changing every aspect of our lives. The showcase event in May allows Dubliners to experience how technology will affect them … [and] is another milestone in the development of our Digital Masterplan for Dublin.”
The showcase is split into several zones, including home, work, school, city, environment and garden, and will include demonstrations of innovation taking place in Ireland and internationally. A special showcase by toy manufacturer Lego is also encouraging members of the public to build their future vision of Dublin. The ‘Build the Change’ Lego workshop has already taken place in ten cities across Europe.
A large digital wall will also allow attendees to interact with an up-to-the-minute social media commentary on ideas of how Dublin can engage more with digital technology.
The showcase takes place on the sidelines of the two-day ‘Open Innovation 2.0’ conference at Dublin Castle and will be attended by Pan European Networks. The conference of innovation leaders will set out how to develop a roadmap for developing a sustainable economy and society to help achieve Europe 2020.
