A total of 44 proposals have been submitted to the European Commission as part of Horizon 2020’s ‘Innovative, sustainable and inclusive bioeconomy’ call.

The call, which is worth €27m, closed last week and an assessment will now be made as to which proposals will receive funding. There are five topics in the call, including ‘Closing the research and innovation divide: the crucial role of innovation support services and knowledge exchange’, ‘Monitoring and mitigation of agricultural and forestry greenhouse gases’, and ‘Coordination action in support of the implementation by participating States of a Joint Programming Initiative on ‘A Healthy Diet for a Healthy Life’’.

Also announced are the results of the €5m ‘Overcoming the crisis: new ideas, strategies and governance structures for Europe’ call. Two bids were submitted to the single topic of ‘ERA-NET on Smart Urban Futures’.

Further results announced by the Commission include those for the €2m ‘Blue growth: unlocking the potential of seas and oceans’ call and its topic of ‘Coordination action in support of the implementation of the Joint Programming Initiative on ‘Healthy and Productive Seas and Oceans’’, which received one proposal. Also revealed is the outcome of the €500,000 ‘Sustainable food security’ call, which has the single topic of ‘Authentication of food products’, which had ten proposals submitted.

All calls sit under the Societal Challenges pillar. The evaluation results are expected to be announced in October 2015.
