Indirect Land Use Change emissions estimates report published
A new study has been published on the progress on greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions estimates of Indirect Land Use Change (ILUC) from biofuels. The research has been performed by the Joint Research Council in collaboration with the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI).
The report presents the results of a new run of the MIRAGE (Modelling International Relationships in Applied General Equilibrium) economic model. The model is already used to calculate ILUC GHG emissions in the 2012 European Commission policy proposal and used to amend the directives on the quality of petrol and diesel fuels.
The MIRAGE model is also used to promote energy use from renewable sources.
