Climate-KIC start-ups take part in Clean Tech Forum
Four Climate-KIC start-ups have travelled to San Francisco to participate in the annual Clean Tech Forum. Elemental Water Makers, Mobile Canal Control, Eternal Sun and Solease, all from the Netherlands, were selected to take part in the forum.
The Clean Tech Forum is the annual gathering of the global clean tech innovation community. The programme includes organised visits to local companies and extensive networking opportunities. Additionally, each start-up has prearranged meetings with potential partners, clients and investors.
Elemental Water Makers contributes to fresh water supply through desalination – driven by renewable, clean energy. Sid Vollebregt, commercial director, said: “Pitching at the Dutch showcase session and SF NewTech provided a diverse and interested audience. Most important is that new relations with investors were formed and bridges towards Hawaii have been built.”
Mobile Canal Control CEO, Peter-Jules van Overloop, was aiming to meet with possible customers due to their product’s potential in California. The company provides a big data platform that enables monitoring and control of water levels and flows with the help of a smartphone.
Adding his thoughts on the event, Pierre Vermeulen, CEO of Solease, said: “Presenting ourselves as ‘The SolarCity of Europe’ really worked out well as people immediately got what we, as the first mover solar leasing company in Europe, aim to achieve.”
Climate-KIC start-up Eternal Sun, which develops solar simulation systems, also hopes to follow up on contacts made during Climate-KIC’s 2013 Silicon Valley start-up tour.
