Climate-KIC’s ‘Journey’ summer school begins
Climate-KIC is launching its ‘Journey 2015’ summer school, which will see more than 300 international students mobilise across Europe to respond to the challenge of climate change.
The first step takes place at the International Scientific Conference, which is held in the French capital Paris until 10 July. For the first time, 40 Climate-KIC students, divided into groups of young reporters trained for the occasion by media coaches, will investigate the various sessions offered throughout the conference. This innovative educational approach, co-developed with the organisers of the conference, will encourage the development of innovative business ideas.
Thanh-Tam Lê, director of Climate-KIC France says: “Climate-KIC is honoured to contribute to the largest international scientific conference around climate change. Many players come from major universities and European research centres which are also Climate-KIC partners.
“For students of the ‘Journey’, it is a unique opportunity to interact with experts from around the world, covering a very broad spectrum of science and technology.”
The main objective of the ‘Journey’ is to encourage entrepreneurial spirit, while supporting economic opportunities related to climate change issues. The schemes offers knowhow and tools to transform an idea into a business.
Paris is the first step of ‘Journey 2015’, which lasts five weeks, and will continue in Valencia, Spain and end in Wrocław, Poland. In Poland, students will present their business plan to a jury of professionals. At the end of the ‘Journey’, Climate-KIC will support the most promising projects and assist in the creation of start-ups until innovative climate solutions reach the market.
