Commission announces H2020 climate workshop
Key figures from the European Commission will make addresses at an information day on Horizon 2020’s Climate Action objective in September.
The one-day event will take place in Brussels and focus on the framework programme’s 2016 calls for proposals, as well as the focus area of blue growth. Appropriate call topics in the focus areas of ‘Industry 2020 in the circular economy’ and ‘Smart and Sustainable Cities’ will also be covered.
The event will include addresses from Kurt Vandenberghe, climate action and resource efficiency director, as well as Luisa Prista, head of the environmental technologies unit, both in DG Research and Innovation. The first session will be chaired by Arnoldas Milukas, head of the Horizon 2020 environment and resources unit in the Executive Agency for SMEs, which is charged with overseeing parts of the EU research and innovation framework programme.
Information will be given on the Societal Challenge, in particular eco-innovation and realising a low carbon circular economy, and achieving Nature-based solutions. Other topics include raw materials and a ‘research and innovation roadmap for climate services’. There will also be a number of specialist, parallel sessions during the afternoon of the event relating to the environment, decarbonisation and blue growth.
Other speakers at the event include Birgit de Boissezon, head of the sustainable management and resources unit, and Andrea Tilche, head of the climate action and earth observations unit, also both in DG Research and Innovation.
The workshop takes place on 21 September 2015 and further details can be found here.
