Meta Heat announced as winner of CleanTech Challenge
Meta Heat’s heat dissipation solutions has won the CleanTech Challenge £10,000 (€16,797) prize and a place on the UK Accelerator Programme following an intense competition.
The duo from Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, were announced as the winners of the grant and as a new start-up in the Climate-KIC community. The team developed efficient heat dissipation solutions for electronic and semiconductor devices which could significantly improve the lifetime and efficiency of electronics, such as mobile phones.
CleanTech Challenge organising committee co-chair Oliver Southwick said: “We have a great winner and the standard of pitches from all the teams was so high this year. It’s great to see the amazing ideas and passion of these student teams.”
The competition culminated in a two-day Bootcamp Final in London, UK, where the finalists pitched to a jury of seven top cleantech experts for a prize of £10,000 entry into Stage 1 the Climate-KIC Accelerator programme.
The CleanTech Challenge is a global business plan competition for innovative clean technology business ideas organised by London Business School and University College London, and supported by Climate-KIC UK for the first time.
It brings together business and science students to create viable cleantech start-ups. The competition consists of three rounds, where teams build up and refine their business models with the help from industry mentors from the cleantech, entrepreneurial, and related sectors.
