Swiss Climate-KIC announces Venture winners
Climate-KIC Switzerland has announced the national winners of the Venture Competition.
Taking the top prizes are the ImagineCargo and ReWinner start-ups. ImagineCargo has developed a cleaner way of posting packages using a bike and train, helping reduce CO2 emissions by up to 99%, whilst guaranteeing the same price and speed as traditional truck-plane-truck delivery methods. ReWinner enables the reuse of high quality and efficient building materials from western Europe in eastern Europe, also helping to reduce CO2 emissions. The reuse of windows is a particular focus.
The two SMEs were selected from a total of five competitors who each presented a five-minute pitch followed by jury and audience questions. Each of the winners won prize money worth CHF24,000 (~€19,900). The ReWinner SME also won the Audience Choice Award following live internet voting by audience members. The final took place at ETH Zürich.
Along with other national winners, the two start-ups will now proceed to the Climate-KIC Venture Competition finals, which will take place in Valencia, Spain, at the end of October.
