Collaborative solar energy project targets H2020
An international solar energy project is seeking funding from Horizon 2020 during its development phases.
The solar-powered, carbon emission converter aims to turn waste products into useable fuel. The project is a collaboration between Ulster University in Northern Ireland, the Tyndall Institute in Cork, Ireland and the Northwest University in Illinois, United States. Researchers hope to create a solar-absorption material that will convert waste into a fuel with numerous applications.
The SuSChem project is receiving funding from the US-Ireland R&D Partnership from Science Foundation Ireland, and hopes to tap into renewable energy funding made available under Horizon 2020. The photocatalyst market, the industry in which the plant will operate, is estimated to be worth €1.3bn.
