Energy KIC makes €80m innovation investment
KIC InnoEnergy has announced the results of its 2014 sustainable energy innovation project support programme, resulting in a €80m investment in high potential project consortia.
The announcement sees 28 new projects joining KIC InnoEnergy’s innovation cycle. The scheme aims to boost sustainable energy innovation in Europe and help tackle pressing world energy challenges. The KIC programme provides a business-orientated environment to help remove obstacles to innovation, as well helping to encourage breakthroughs into the marketplace. Support is also provided regarding the protection of intellectual property and encouraging further collaboration.
Commenting on the results, Diego Pavia, chief executive of KIC InnoEnergy said: “These results show that the right partnerships, competencies and results can emerge and European innovation can thrive. We expect 2015 to be even more successful. The new call for innovation project proposals that we recently launched has already generated a tremendous amount of interest, and we believe that it will continue to do so until the call ends in April.
“This will translate in new patented technology, products and services, but also ultimately means more competitiveness and jobs for Europe.”
A total of 65 new projects have joined the energy innovation project support programme since 2013.
