GreenLight, GreenBuilding winners announced
Fifteen companies from across the EU have been recognised for their energy-saving initiatives in the GreenLight and GreenBuildings awards. The awards were presented at the Improving Energy Efficiency in Commercial Buildings conference in Frankfurt, Germany.
The GreenBuilding programme acknowledges innovative energy saving technologies in several fields, namely heating, cooling, ventilation, lighting and control systems, as well as the use of renewable sources. The nine winners made energy savings of between 56% and 85%. German company Hubert Haupt Immobilien Holding saved the most energy (85%), making it the top GreenBuilding winner.
Six GreenLight winners achieved electricity savings ranging between 53% and 93% due to the installation of energy efficient lighting technologies. EOC Belgium NV conserved the most energy, saving 93.1% and making it the top GreenLight award recipient.
The GreenLight and GreenBuilding programmes were launched by the European Commission in 2000 and 2005 respectively, and are managed by the JRC.
