Minister tours local KIC InnoEnergy offices
The Polish Deputy Prime Minister has visited KIC InnoEnergy’s Polish headquarters.
Janusz Piechocinski, who is also the country’s economy minister, commended the work of the European Institute of Innovation and Technology-backed Knowledge and Innovation Community during his visit to the KIC InnoEnergy Poland Plus offices in Kraków, but called on partners from Poland to play a greater role.
The deputy prime minister said: “Poland should have ambitions to be the leader in Central and Eastern Europe, among others, in the field of co-ordination of scientific research and transferring their results into business practice.”
Piechocinski also learnt about some of the projects being co-ordinated by KIC InnoEnergy Poland Plus. Energy efficient projects on show to the minister included ‘Gradis’, which centres on intelligent outdoor lighting system optimisation and control; ‘CO2-SNG’ which focuses on a CO2 methanation system for electricity storage through Synthetic Natural Gas production; and ‘KAStrion’, which deals with current and vibration analysis for preventive and predictive condition-based maintenance in offshore wind farms.
The minister also asked partners to consider the prospect of applying such technologies to the automotive sector, where energy efficient criteria also apply.
The visit by Piechocinski took place on 17 August and was part of a governmental tour of the Malopolska Region, where Kraków is located.
