Horizon 2020 social report published
An EU-funded social research project has published a position a report detailing its recommendations for Horizon 2020.
WILCO (Welfare innovations at the local level in favour of cohesion) published the social innovation report after having received the endorsement from four other European research projects, including INNOSERV, LIPSE, TEPSIE and CSEYHP. The Horizon 2020 report makes several recommendations, including making adequate funds available in the next framework programme for social innovation; in particular in terms of dissemination.
Other suggestions include encouraging greater collaboration between academics and practitioners, and involving all the key stakeholders in defining research topics in what can be described as a quadruple innovation helix.
WILCO is also encouraging ‘the clarification of the relationship between technological and social innovation’ when considering research funding; ‘the impact and outcomes of social innovations on urgent problems in contemporary society’; ‘the measurement and evaluation of social innovations’; and ‘the link between research and capacity building’. The report also suggests that project managers in Horizon 2020 will be able to work more effectively with stakeholders in order to address their needs more effectively.
WILCO is an EU-funded project exploring how local welfare systems support social cohesion in different European countries.
