Clean Sky and SESAR foster closer links
The Clean Sky and SESAR Joint Undertakings (JU) have signed a memorandum of co-operation (MoC) in order to foster closer links between the two research and innovation programmes.
The purpose of the MoC is to establish a co-operative framework between the two JUs, contributing to the sustainable development of the European air transport system.
Since 2011 SESAR JU and Clean Sky JU have exchanged information about their programmes to ensure consistency where possible and avoid unnecessary overlap. Building on these efforts, the MoC establishes a framework for co-operation, covering where possible joint activities in relevant areas of R&D, namely: avionics and air traffic management/communications navigation and surveillance infrastructure and services, mission and business trajectory management, and assessing the performance targets (in particular in the area of the environment) and the complementarity between both JUs.
The MoC will also facilitate a periodical exchange on the progress of both programmes, as well as some co-ordination of joint stakeholder and communications activities.
To implement the MoC, a steering committee will be set up, co-chaired by Clean Sky executive director Eric Dautriat and SESAR JU executive director Florian Guillermet.
“The MoC between Clean Sky and SESAR is necessary to ensure a successful completion of our objectives,” said Dautriat. “I am pleased to formalise today our efficient and smooth co-operation in the benefit of an innovative and competitive European aviation.”
“This MoC is an important step towards achieving our shared ambition of delivering high performing aviation for Europe. We look forward to working even closer with our colleagues in Clean Sky to optimise the value of both the programmes,” Guillermet added.
