2016 ERC work programme published

Next year’s work programme for the European Research Council has been published, with the body having a budget of over €1.6bn in 2016.

Three schemes will be available for applications, namely Starting Grants, which will have a total budget of around €485m next year; Consolidator Grants, which have a budget of €605m; and Advanced Grants, with total funding worth €540m.

According to the blue sky research funding body, ‘ERC Principal Investigators will also continue to be able to apply for Proof of Concept Grants’. This scheme will have financing worth €20m in 2016.

A number of other instruments are also being funded by the ERC during 2016.

The blue sky research body is funded by Horizon 2020, and has access to a budget of just over €13bn during the course of the EU research and innovation framework programme.
