First Horizon 2020 photonics calls published

The first photonics calls of the LEIT ICT Work Programme 2014 under Horizon 2020 have been published.

The ICT 26 call Photonics KET 2014 has a budget of €47m funding for project proposals focusing on topics including research and innovation, ERANETs, innovation, and co-ordination and support actions.

Research and innovation will receive €28m towards biophotonics for screening of diseases, sensing for safety and civil security, and disruptive approaches in sensing.

Innovation will be given €8m for open system architectures for Solid State Lighting, while ERANETs will get €6m to put towards actions with the member states. Co-ordination and support actions will receive €5m for strategic co-operation and networking, the wide uptake of SSL technologies, and EU-wide outreach.

The ICT 29 call, development of novel materials and systems for OLED lighting, is a joint action between the ICT and NMP programme and foresees €18m of funding. In addition, the PPP Factory of the Future (FoF) calls for research and innovation activities on zero-failure laser-based manufacturing, as well as a support action on concept and roadmap building in relation to smart and safe workspaces for laser-based manufacturing have a dedicated budget in the range of €10-15m.

The 2014 LEIT ICT Call will close on the 23rd April 2014 while the 2014 LEIT FoF Call will close on the 20th March 2014.
