2012 annual report released by EUREKA

EUREKA has released its annual report, stating its progress to support the development of the European Research Area and build closer ties with EU on Horizon 2020.

The annual report highlights several prominent achievements during the past 12 months, including an amendment to the four-year Strategic Roadmap that was agreed at the Budapest Ministerial Conference in 2012. The roadmap outlines how EUREKA can help better support the development of the European Research Area (ERA) in addition to several ‘action fields’ which are monitored by the EUREKA Secretariat on an annual basis.

The document also outlined that EUREKA was focused on building closer ties with Horizon 2020, helping the organisation to “raise its image” and “strengthen its contribution to the emerging ERA”.

Several other achievements were also noted in the report, including the endorsement of Montenegro’s membership of the organisation, the renewed the associated status of South Korea and the announced associated status of Canada to EUREKA. A total of 297 EUREKA projects have been funded, representing €1.1bn of total costs from both the public and private sectors.

The report was compiled during the 2011-2012 Hungarian chairmanship and the 2012-2013 Turkish chairmanships of EUREKA. The chairmanship has now passed to Norway for 2013-2014.
